How He exists

Friday, 7 January 2022 at 21:05

Trinity icon on Dr John Dunn. How He exists

I find that I am not concerned with the question of whether God (as a True Being) exists or not; rather my concern is how (in what manner or mode) He exists.

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. (1 John 3:2)

I see Resurrection as the recovery of the content of ‘living thought’ at its inception, before it is almost immediately degraded into ‘fallen thought’, or ‘reflected thought’

This recovery is the result of action by the awakened will.

The thinking ‘I’ grasps the direction of the Logos within itself, which is the elevating of itself to its own pre-reflective moment.

The awakened will marks the insertion of the “I” into the process of thinking.

The corollary of this is that in normal everyday accepted modes of thought, i.e. reflective thought, the “I” is absent.

Thus the connection to pre-reflective, or ‘living thought’, before it falls,is not only a connection to the Logos, but also to the ‘I’.

This connection to the Logos and to the ‘I’ is tantamount to an encounter with the ‘source of life’.

The existence prior to the recovery of the content of ‘living thought’ at its inception equated to subsumption in the realm of Ananke, a state of non-being.

Thus the Resurrection as the connection to the Logos and the ‘I’ is also the Creation.

Turning again to the the connection of the ‘I’ to the Logos; is it a reintegration? Or are the ‘I’ and the Logos to be thought of as one and the same entity.

Either way, the realisation of this reintegration or synthesis has been made possible through fall, incarnation, death, Resurrection and Creation.

Resurrected creation

Bolt from the blue on Dr John Dunn. Resurrected creation

There can be no overcoming of the evil in the human-animal except by the lightning-bolt Logos of thinking, whose force on Earth arises from fulfilling the divine task at the roots of the human being - namely, the victory over death, the Resurrection.

Resurrection is the instilling of ‘living thought’ and is linked to the capacity for creation. The uncorrupted feeling of the soul is experienced, purity of feeling is restored and creative faith is resurrected.

Until now we have only had a freedom with respect to the sensory, the tendency to depend on the past suprasensory revelations of others. Warm feelings of artistic ‘freedom’ are actually mired in shallow fashion and policed into emasculated safe expression.

Real freedom demands the action of the pure individual element, the product of direct contact within the soul with the source of the initiative and courage. It is an action for the sake of the innocents held in a sub-human community, since the Logos, through the individual act, surfaces in the world and tears the human away from animal nature.

Continuous struggle

Victory over evil on Dr John Dunn. Saint George and the Dragon, by Tintoretto
The continuous struggle against the murderers of Love

Continuous struggle

About thoughts on the necessity of connecting with living thought, i.e. the thought before it falls, i.e. the pre-reflected stage of its creative direction.

The universal in thought can connect its own substance with the power of the form, so that the particular, the error, the material ‘reality’ of reflected thought, can dissolve and the forces engaged in it converge again toward their centre of life.

By dissolving the particular, we are left with one centre, or Logos, which, until such a dissolution, is avoided through a dependence on the values of reflected vision.

There is connection with the the Logos, with all the inherent dangers of sliding into a Spinozistic pantheism, but the danger of this potential slide is mitigated when the term ‘resurrected I’ is used coterminously with Logos.

However, such a connection with the ‘resurrected I’ is not a one-off event.

Our dependence on the values of reflected thinking cannot be overcome simply because they are perceived as illusory. The struggle to transform error into truth must be continuous, just as Creation as an act of Love must be perpetual.

Cosmogeny

Tuesday, 4 January 2022 at 21:50

No Text Cosmogeny

Before the Beginning there was nought.

The symbol of the nought before the Beginning is Ananke and her realm of undifferentiated Oneness, equilibrium, the endless repeating cycle and entropic death.

Unless violated, the endless repeating cycle would carry on ad infinitum.

In the one infinite Cosmos without man, there was no ‘that is’, there was no ‘be’ing.

Where there is no being, there is void, no-thing; there is 0. Without man, 1=0.

To reduce all to 0 is evil.

Evil preceded the Beginning.

Ananke’s violator was Love.

Love walked the Earth as man.

This was the Creation, the Beginning.

From the moment of Creation there was opposition from the forces of Ananke.

These were the forces of return to original equilibria, the forces of evil.

From this opposition came the central bifurcation of the Cosmos, Love (or Good) versus evil.

Creation and the Resurrection the same?

Monday, 3 January 2022 at 21:45

Picture of Urizen on Dr John Dunn. William Blake's Urizen

Creation and the Resurrection the same?

In reflected thought man is subsumed in the One, so awakening is Creation.

But reflected thought is fallen thought, so awakening is Resurrection.

Either way, in reflected thought man exists before the Beginning, beholden to Ananke.

We might not see the Logos as the flaming light, endowed with creative power, i.e. the light of fire that is continuously extinguished in reflected consciousness, but the flaming light is there, only suppressed. Awakening is Resurrection.

Or in this state, is the flame not there at all, until Love penetrates? Awakening is Creation.

Or is Love simply rejected, even murdered by Urizen and his followers.

Before the Beginning, the light of the Logos did not shine.

Love violated Ananke in the Beginning, and the flaming light shone through.

Ananke enthroned Urizen as the anti-Love.

Man, existing in reflected thought, did not experience Love. Urizen came between him and Love.

Resurrected Creation

Sunday, 2 January 2022 at 21:09

St Maximus on Dr John Dunn. Saint Maximus’ words in his Centuries on Theology and Economy (1.66): He who is initiated into the inexpressible power of the Resurrection apprehends the purpose for which God first established everything.

Resurrected Creation

We experience a relationship of sorts to the Logos at the very inception of thought.

The Logos is the flaming light, endowed with creative power. This light of fire is continuously extinguished in reflected consciousness. Reflected thought, ‘fallen thought’, has opposed the Logos.

The point is that here, where it is not yet reflected and it has its intuitive moment, it moves as the light of the Logos.

The logical consequence of this is that we must grasp the light before it flickers out.

The secret to healing the human being lies in perceiving the light of fire, of which thought pre-reflectedly burns.

Grasp the moment of thought’s inception and we can be re-born into the light of the Logos.

I am moving towards a position that sees the Creation as the Resurrection and vice versa.

From the moment the Logos incarnated and defeated death, we have had the possibility to think according to the Resurrection, insofar as the flaming light of the Logos lights up within each thought that we think. But to perceive this light, we must overcome the darkness of reflected thought.

Happy New Year.

Saturday, 1 January 2022 at 22:09

Cover on Dr John Dunn. Just a short but important message this evening:

Happy New Year.

2021was a year of experimentation, both in the field of writing, where I continued to strive for original ideas in the philosophical and political spheres, and also in YouTubing, where, with cheap equipment I served something of an apprenticeship.

2022 will be a year of fulfilment - that is my goal anyway. I hope to collect my scattered musings into another book, whilst at the same time adding two of my previous works to Kindle, in a quest for a new and wider audience. As far as YouTubing goes, well I’ll just try to move beyond the apprenticeship stage, and hope that I find a few kindred spirits as viewers.

Once more, Happy New Year to you all.
